This story is about how a couple from Britan built a tiny home using only recycled materials, investing just 1000 pounds and managed to do this in less than a year. Christian Montez (29) and Kyra Powell (28) weren’t able to afford a proper house. They were on a budget and they had to improvise so they build this affordable tiny home in 9 months. They also needed official approval because their house was small and it wasn’t recognized by authorities as a permanent residence. To make the window upstairs, the couple used an old washing machine door and this is by far their favorite creative decision. They both have studied architecture so they had prior knowledge that helped them build their wooden home. The house is located at Kyra’s parents, 60 acre property in Hereford, Herefordshire. Now they want to show this home to the public so that they can inspire more people to take up similar projects.
‘This cabin gives us a chance to save for a deposit. It’s a nice space and it gives us somewhere to relax after a long day at work, without the worry of bills or rent.’
