Do you still remember the girlfriends from the show ‘Golden Girls’, who were living together in their retirement? It’s amazing that there are 7 Chinese girlfriends who are trying to do just that. They have purchased a house they plan to share as soon as they retire. That’s friendship right?
This whole thing began as a joke, I mean who even has the resources or courage to even try something like this ? Well, it seems like these Chinese women have got exactly what they need to make this a reality. Their plans were put into motion after one of then found a 700 square meter house in the suburbs of Guangzhou.
These friends have known each other for more than 20 years. They have been discussing the idea of spending their last days together for a long time now. “We [said that we] would get together when we were 60 and live the retired life together,” one of them told Yitiao.
What was just a dream has now turned into a reality as the group has raised 4 million yen ($580,000), and bought the home.
The redbrick house was very quickly turned into a modern mansion. The estate is surrounded by nature on all sides giving the women a calm place to spend their retirement.
The ground floor is going to be a shared space and each of the girls gets their own bedroom on the upper floor. The furnishing is done In great taste with most of the furniture being imported from India and morocco.
Because they are all tea-lovers, the house has a tea pavilion that’s connected with the house with a wooden boardwalk.
Even though the house is pretty isolated, being one hour away from the nearest town, the women said they won’t feel lonely and will do things to keep the occupied. . “We’ll probably cook together, barbecue in the fields, sing and collect food in the village,” they said in the video. “We joke that each of us should practice one skill so that we won’t be lonely and fight with each other 10 years later… Some can cook beautiful food, some know traditional Chinese medicine, some play instruments, and some grow vegetables.”
